This is a contract-to-hire position for a proven, top-producing Landman. The Landman will start as a contractor for six (6) months and, if proven to be an A-player, will transition to a full-time employee with an equity stake in the company. This position is responsible for conducting title examinations and properly documenting and reporting the findings in a clear and consistent format. The Candidate must be seeking a long-term, in-house position and live in the Houston Area. A Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Land Management or Business Administration, is required, along with a minimum of 3 years of experience running title. Participation in local Professional Landman Association is a plus.
Identification of mineral and royalty owners within assigned areas
Ownership entry into land database using guidelines, training, and leadership support
Clear communication of potential title issues and possible results with multiple departments and team members who may not have significant title experience
Review and interpret various documents and contracts including Mineral Deeds, Oil & Gas Leases, Options, Joint Operating Agreements, Farmout Agreements, Exploration Agreements, Purchase and Sale Agreements, Surface Use Agreements, Right of Way Agreements, etc.
Must be able to travel on short notice if courthouse research and/or other field duties are needed
Assist with Title Review and other additional tasks or projects as needed
Ability to interpret documents regarding conveyance of property with regard to land, minerals, and well ownership
Proficient in title and curative
Must possess excellent interpersonal skills, both oral and written
Highly proficient in Word and Excel
Highly skilled in grammar, spelling, and basic algebra
